Betta Flare Stick
Did your betta eat a few too many bloodworms? Is it bored of its daily routine? Do you need them to pose for a glamor shot?
Here’s a fun solution! Flare sticks are a neat way to engage with your betta and encourage them to flex their muscles. When a betta sees another “betta-like” fish, its instinct is to puff up and flare out its gills and fins. This can be a great exercise for keeping your betta fit and mentally engaged, as long as it is done carefully and in moderation (no more than a few times per week).
Note that some of the sticks have a color on one side and a different color on the other when you flip them. If there are two colors in the selection that means those colors each appear on one side of the same stick.
Directions: Hold the flare stick up to the glass so that it is facing your betta. If your betta flares, you can slowly move the stick to encourage them to follow it. Depending on your betta’s temperament, they may readily engage with the flare stick or ignore or hide from it. Introduce slowly and be mindful of your betta’s body language.
